What an amazing week of athletics for Ireland, and what a brilliant opportunity for so many from our club community to travel to Birmingham and experience the European Championships.

It was fantastic to see some of Europe’s, and the worlds, best athletes competing at the highest level, but even better to see our own athletes and coaches having the opportunity to meet and chat with so many international and team Ireland athletes throughout the week. For our younger athletes in particular, these are experiences that can leave a lasting impression.

Ireland enjoyed a brilliant championships, coming away with four medals and plenty of memorable performances. But for our club community, the week was about more than the results. It was about being there, experiencing a major international championship together, meeting athletes who have reached the highest level, and seeing first-hand what is possible.

There is something powerful about seeing people from your own country compete on the European stage. If you can see it, you can believe it. And if you can believe it, who knows where your own athletics journey might take you.
